How Prajnya Initiatives are envisioned and structured
Prajnya’s work is organized into thematic initiatives
that provide the basis for all its activities. Each initiative
addresses a cluster of issues and is structured around a
cornerstone or anchor project that will form its core agenda.
The initiatives draw on each other, and some projects display
a natural overlap which facilitates mutual engagement.
Cornerstone
Projects are long-term projects that represent
Prajnya’s commitment to a sustained research and outreach
agenda with regard to each such cluster. These flagship
projects anchor all the other activities of the Initiative,
some of which may be of shorter tenure, by sharing resources
with them and informing their agendas.

Politics, Security and Women Initiative
Believing the systematic
study of women in politics, the security of women and the
role of women in creating security and insecurity to be
imperative, this initiative will focus on (1) documentation,
research and dissemination; (2) capacity building and (3)
network building.
The Initiative works
through two programmes:

Education for Peace Initiative
This initiative will
host Prajnya’s pedagogically-oriented projects, using
a range of expressive media towards (1) documentation and
dissemination; (2) forging new ways of thinking about conflict
and peace; (3) teaching and learning of skills conducive
to communication, healing, reconciliation and interaction
between people with divergent interests; and (4) capacity
building for conflict resolution.

Regions
Projects under this
initiative will centre on the shared problems, the push
and pull of relationships and security issues within geographical
and political regions, through activities that combine research,
collaboration, network and outreach.

South Asia Security
Understanding ‘security’
as safety, survival and well-being, projects under this
initiative will centre on (1) producing accessible publications
with tangible utility for furthering public debate and (2)
network building and dialogue.
