The 2008 16 Days Campaign Remembered

2008 Campaign Coordinator: Nirupama Sarathy

As part of the 16 Days Campaign, we planned programmes that were varied by theme, nature and audience.
We drew attention to the many ways in which women experience violence from foeticide and domestic violence, to workplace harassment and street sexual violence, to gender-based violence in political and conflict contexts.
We reached out to students, teachers, corporates, doctors, faith-based social service organizations, the media and the public at large.
Our programs included:
1. Oratorical and collage competitions in colleges and a public essay competition;
2. Workshops, debates and a symposium on varied topics tailored for particular target audiences;
3. Rallies, radio spots and message boards.
We sought partnership with local colleges, non-profits and media.
